Health Care

Insecurity Insight monitors attacks on health care in Haiti, and based on its data, the Haiti chapter (in English and French) of the 2025 Safeguarding Health in Conflict Coalition (SHCC) report Care in the Crosshairs identified 42 incidents of violence against or obstruction of health care in 2025. Among incidents reported in 2025, 15 health workers were kidnapped and five killed, while health facilities were attacked on 13 occasions.

Reported incidents of violence against or obstruction of health care attributed to organized armed gangs declined overall, but rose in Port-au-Prince, reflecting continued instability and the concentration of cases in Ouest department, as recorded in previous years. Incidents decreased in Arbonite department, while incidents were also recorded in Nord-Ouest department. Health worker kidnappings surged and health facilities continued to be attacked. Reports of targeted health worker killings persisted, while patients in hospitals were also targeted.

Published every two weeks, Insecurity Insight’s Attacks on Health Care New Brief tracks global threats and violence as well as protests and other events affecting the delivery of and access to health care. Explore our interactive map to see where incidents happened.
