15 August 2024: In the Otukpo area, Benue state, 19 medical and dental students, and a medical doctor were kidnapped on their way to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu city by unidentified gunmen at around 17:30. The students were from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos.
