14 April 2025: In Dabat town and woreda, North Gonder zone, Amhara region, two doctors who worked at Dabat General Hospital were abducted from their homes at night by unidentified individuals. The perpetrators demanded a ransom for each doctor’s release. The doctors were released the following day after the ransom was paid, though the amount remains unknown. The doctors’ families organised a group of elders and sent them to negotiate with the hostage-takers, successfully securing the reimbursement of the ransom money. Source: Amhara Association of America.
